Ermit is one of the most famous mathematicians of the XIX century, both in his work and in his pedagogical activity. At the end of 1860, he taught the course of Analysis at the Polytechnic School. Then the first volume of this course was printed, concluding the foundations of differential and integral calculus; the second part of the course, which concludes the doctrine of certain integrals, the theory of functions of a complex variable, the theory of elliptic functions and the doctrine of integrating differential equations, was not printed, is available only in lithographic form and is a bibliographic rarity.
