The book is dedicated to the Russian manuscript story of the 1640-1650s. - "The story of the useful old man Nicodemus of the Solovetsky monastery about a certain monk." Its content and literary history are connected with the Solovetsky, Trinity-Sergiev, Sretensky Nerekhtsky and Old Believer Vygo-Lexinsky monasteries. The story is written in the traditions of ancient Russian "visions" and "miracles," is the earliest source containing information about the miraculous icons of Our Lady of Vladimir in Nerekhta. The book establishes the manuscript fate of the story on the basis of a textual analysis of all its known lists of the XVII-XIX centuries. The monument is considered in the broad context of visions, Old Russian eschatology and demonology. For the first time, all editions of the story are published, as well as works of the 18th century dedicated to the miraculous icons of the Virgin.
