The first volume is devoted to an overview of the history of ancient Greece, from the geographical outline and Homeric time to the Peloponnesian War and the crisis of democratic structures. The second part of the book is devoted to the initial stage of the history of the Roman Empire from the formation of the state to the collapse of the system of democracy.
