The tutorial provides a modern presentation of the basics of teletraffic theory, focused on practical use. A fairly complete description of software tools for building simulation models of telecommunications systems using the GPSS language and Petri nets is presented. Contains material on the analysis of mass service systems by classical methods of probability theory and random processes. Examples of practical analysis of quality of service (QoS) characteristics in telecommunication systems are considered.
