Värtsilä-Diesel (Finland) acquired shares of Sulzer-Diesel in 1996, established joint production with Cummins and after merging with a number of foreign companies in 1998 was transformed into Wartsila NSD Corporation, producing high-, medium- and low-speed engines, both of its own design and the aforementioned affiliated firms. She also organized the production of variable pitch propellers, gearbox gears and automatic control and diagnostic systems for diesel engines.
