The development of the problem of slow viral infections is characterized by extraordinary dynamism: born in the framework of veterinary medicine, this problem, as we have seen, very soon appeared in medicine, and in recent years has unexpectedly acquired a general biological aspect due to the discovery of prions - infectious proteins - pathogens of a whole group of slow infections of humans and animals.
