Everything written in the book refers (unless specifically stated) to biological microscopes - binocular or trinocular - with mechanical object tables and with built-in illuminators with brightness regulators. Microscopes are designed to work with drugs placed on slides and usually covered with coverslips. The book contains a minimum of information on physics and optics. Dimensions of quantities are given in metric units.
