General principles of cutting tools design are described. Methods of solving problems that arise when designing various cutting tools are presented, methods of forming and determining initial tool surfaces and designing high-performance cutting tools based on them are given. The conditions of forming are analyzed, subject to which it is possible to process the specified surface of the part.
