The encyclopedia is the most complete body of knowledge in Russian literature about Indian philosophy from antiquity to the present day and contains more than 500 articles written by leading Russian specialists and devoted to categories, personalities and selected monuments of philosophical thought of India. The publication describes the early stage of development of Indian philosophy, six classical darshai trends, the philosophy of Buddhism and Jainism, analyzes the traditions of Tantrism, Bhakti, neo-Hinduism, characterizes the activities of modern philosophers and scientists of India, reflects the achievements of Russian and foreign philosophical studies over the past decades.
