Book about the history of the Separate Radiation Reconnaissance Group, created after the accident on April 26, 1986 at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in accordance with the orders of the Ministry of Higher Education and Soyuzatomenergo of the Ministry of Energy. From July 1986 to March 1987, the group participated in the elimination of the consequences of the accident in the hottest points of the 10-kilometer exclusion zone, including in especially dangerous work to localize highly active radiation sources on the roof of the third Chernobyl power unit. The issues of organizing special training of the group, the first autumn reconnaissance of the city of Pripyat and the "Red Forest," the creation of the first computerized system of daily detailed radiation monitoring of the city of Pripyat were considered.
