Contemporary Danish writer Hans Scherfig (1905) is a man of versatile interests. He is the author of many works of art, a publicist and, finally, a person who is thoroughly engaged in zoology. The book "Pond" is based on the writer's personal observations on the life of one of the Danish ponds, which is very similar to any Moscow one. The book is written extremely simply and interestingly. This little book about life in the pond is not a natural history manual, it is something like a popular science diary, regular records of what happens in the pond from January to December.
