The MiG-31 fighter-interceptor is the first fourth-generation Russian combat aircraft. Created 25 years ago, it is still the fastest and highest-altitude combat aircraft in the world. Until recently, the MiG-31 was also the only serial fighter in the world equipped with an airborne radar station with a phased antenna array (headlamp).
