For the first time in the scientific literature, the proposed publication examines the evolution of the image of China in Russia over four centuries and its role in the development of Russian policy towards China. The bulk of the work is a specific and detailed description and analysis of domestic Russian discussions about China. The main goal of the study is to reconstruct and interpret the image of China in modern post-Soviet Russia and assess its role in the development of Russian foreign policy and in the domestic political struggle.
