Elvstrem is a four-time champion of the Olympic Games on single dinghies (1948-1960), twice world champion in the Star class (1966-1967), world champion in the "5.5-meter" class (1966), champion in the new Olympic class keel yachts "Soling" (1969) - well known to sailing enthusiasts.
