The history of the Tigers in Italy did not add glorious pages to the track record of German heavyweights. To this day, the question is debated whether the Tigers were in the Italian army. In any case, there are documents stating that in the summer of 1943 Germany handed over several Pz-VI vehicles to its allies in the Appenines. When the homeland of fascism preferred the Allies instead of Germany, the Germans categorically took their Tigers back. However, Tigers as part of German troops also fought in Italy. The 508th heavy tank battalion "flashed" most vividly, which from May 23 to 25, 1944 lost almost all of its tanks near Cisterna di Roma. Here, the technical unreliability of the Tiger and the mediocre command of German officers were clearly and fatally manifested. Tragicomism is especially contrasted, against the background of clearly weaker Allied tanks.
