The work is an attempt to give an idea that the foreign policy of Russia both before the revolution and after it was characterized by many common features determined by the political and geopolitical traditions of Russia. Some postulates introduced by socialist theory influenced the nature and characteristics of the state's foreign policy, while others, being socialist in form, turned out to be illusory and unviable.
