The first military parade in Soviet Russia took place on May 1, 1918 in Moscow, which became the venue for it not by chance. From March 12, 1918 to the present day, the government and other higher bodies of state power have been functioning here. Therefore, the Moscow parade has always had the highest status. On May 1, 1918, after a demonstration on Red Square and the passage of units and courses of the Red Army along it, a parade of troops of the Moscow garrison took place with an air holiday on Khodynka. From that day on, the "review of the combat forces of the international proletariat" became traditional. The second permanent date for the parade was November 7th. However, during the Civil War, military parades on Red Square were held on other dates. So, for example, November 24, 1918 was declared the Day of the Red Officer, and a parade of troops and cadets of the courses of red commanders took place in Moscow.
