The collection combines articles on feast as a phenomenon of traditional folk culture. The thematic sections of the collection consider various aspects of the feast - the beliefs and rituals associated with the meal; a feast in family (native, wedding and funeral) rituals; reflection of the theme of food and meals in various folklore genres; items of traditional table life. The appendix contains articles on the history of table rituals, publication of materials and a bibliography on the topic "Russian traditional feast," including a description of publications from 1990 to 2006.
