It is generally believed that a philosopher should write treatises, studies, articles, "write philosophy," and not a diary. Philosophy is supposed to be some kind of fairly universal, impersonal affair, not conducive to intimate outpourings. I am not really inclined to such outpourings and do not intend to provide them with a place in my diary. The form of the diary is not important for me because it is associated with something purely personal - I am simply not able to find in myself something so purely personal, which I could then notify the public about - for me in the diary it is only important that the entries in the diary date.
