The monograph of the American historian Richard Helly, a well-known specialist in Russian history, is devoted to the phenomenon of servility in Russia. On extensive cross-cultural historical material, the author shows that Russian servitude is a kind of slavery with all the main signs and features inherent in this phenomenon. A specific feature of Russian slavery, almost nowhere else in the world, was the mass enslavement of their fellow tribesmen and co-religionists.
