The book contains the necessary information and a systematic methodology for calculating automobile and tractor engines. The relationship of thermal calculation with dynamic, as well as with the calculation of parts for strength and with the calculations of systems is shown on the examples of complex calculations of a carburetor engine and a supercharged diesel engine. The second edition (the first was published in 1971) additionally gives an analysis of theoretical cycles, methods for combating toxic emissions of engines, calculations of boost units, unstressed cams and power systems; thermal calculations of carburetor engine and diesel engine are expanded, possibility of using electronic computers in calculation of theoretical cycles is described. It is intended as a teaching aid for university students studying in the specialties "Automobile Transport," "Construction and Road Machines and Equipment," as well as "Cars and Tractors." It can be used by engineers and technicians.
