The monograph is devoted to the little-studied problem of the late Russian annals. It considers annalistic sources from the oprichnina of Ivan the Terrible to the Time of Troubles inclusive. Particular attention is paid to the reconstruction of the content of the unsaved annals of Joseph. Among the noble chroniclers of the eve of the Time of Troubles (Bezdninsky and Belsky chroniclers, Karamzinsky chronographer, etc.), a chronicler from the Pushkin family was singled out and it is shown that A. S. Pushkin portrayed his ancestors in the tragedy "Boris Godunov" in full accordance with historical reality.
