The life path of the famous French general and politician Charles de Gaulle (1890-1970) is unique. He fought on the fronts of the First World War, held prominent posts in the army, combining a military career with literary work. During the Second World War, he unfurled the banner of the struggle for the liberation of France, returned it to the rank of a great power and headed the Provisional Government. For many years, de Gaulle was in opposition, but, in the end, returned to power, founded the Fifth Republic and became its first president.
