Alexander Vasilievich Kolchak is primarily an outstanding traveler engaged in oceanology, hydrology, Arctic research and icebreaker shipbuilding. During the First World War, Kolchak was the most prominent Russian naval commander, and in the last period of his life, during the hard times of the Civil War, he was one of the leaders of the White movement, who set as his goal the "revival and resurrection of the dying state," sincerely hoping to unite the most diverse political forces under the banner of the struggle against Bolshevism and create a new firm state power. With all his inevitable political miscalculations and human mistakes, A.V. Kolchak will remain one of the most outstanding and tragic figures in Russian history of the 20th century.
