The dissertation of Hegumen Barsanuphius is a solemn hymn to prayer. The material for this work was the multi-volume collection "Kindness," the latest edition of which included extracts from the written creations of thirty-eight Christian ascetics who lived between the 4th and 14th centuries. Delighted with the depth of thought of St. fathers, painting the unuttered beauty of life in Christ, the author created a work that can bring great benefit and joy to the God-loving soul.
