The book is the first issue of the Kurchatov Institute series of publications on the history of nuclear energy in the Soviet Union and Russia. The first issue contains author's essays providing a general overview of the history of nuclear energy, its main directions and problems. In subsequent issues, historical essays on individual areas and problems will be collected.
