Fundamentals of metal science are considered: structure and properties of metals and alloys; principles of metal extraction from ores by methods of pyro-, hydrometallurgy, as well as electrolysis from aqueous solutions and molten salts. The basics of the technology of manufacturing metal products by casting, pressure treatment, powder metallurgy methods are described; basics of heat treatment and metal corrosion protection.
