Numerical examples were considered and tasks were set for calculation and design of the main types of joints of steel elements, selection of cross sections of centrally compressed and bent rods, calculation of truss nodes from grouted welded profiles. For students of the first level of training (bachelor) in the specialty "Industrial and Civil Engineering." Initial skills in the calculation and design of metal structures are instilled in students when solving specific problems. Understanding the work of a structure, and therefore consciously and competently performing their calculation, is based on the ability to analyze the stressed state of a joint or structural element and apply the knowledge gained from studying the course "Mechanics of a deformable solid." The application of theoretical knowledge in practical calculations of constructions is complicated by the wide variety of abstract theoretical knowledge of the stressed state of an object obtained by the student and the inability to apply them for specific problems.
