The textbook contains material on the first part of the special educational discipline "Communication Networks and Switching Systems," read for bachelors of day and correspondence departments in the direction of training 11.03.02 "Infocommunication Technologies and Communication Systems." The basic principles of digital switching systems construction and functioning are described in the manual. The main attention is paid to the study of circuit switching systems, and promising systems including packet switching equipment are also considered.
