Adopted at the extraordinary seventh session of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the ninth convocation on October 7, 1977. The first section of the Constitution enshrined the general principles of the socialist system and the main features of a developed socialist society. The constitution adopted in 1977 contained 9 sections, 21 chapters and 174 articles.
