"The Homes and Home Lives of American Natives" is the last work of the great American ethnologist Lewis Henry Morgan. Morgan's book has three unequal parts. The first part is chapter I, which gives a brief but very thorough introduction to the study of the social structure of American natives. The second part (chapters II-IV) describes the communist orders and customs of the Indians, namely: the law of hospitality, communism of home life, collective land ownership and peculiar customs of eating. In the third part (chapters V-XI), Morgan examines the housing architecture of the American natives and explains its character, based on the primitive communist orders and customs described by him in the second part.
