The monograph sets out the foundations of the theory of the origin, formation and settlement of the genus Bison, highlights the issues of changing the range, extermination and revival of the European bison - Bison bonasus bonasus L. Special attention is paid to the consideration of environmental conditions and factors of change in the number of the last wild population of bison, preserved until 1919 in Belovezhskaya Pushcha.
