The Olsufievs are a Russian noble family, one of the branches of which was elevated to count dignity in 1856. It is included in the V and VI parts of the genealogy books of the Tver and Moscow provinces. The genus comes, according to apocryphal information of the genealogy of the legend, from the duma nobleman Mikhail Ivanovich Olsufiev, the landowner of Serpeysky, for participating in the defeat near Molody Devlet-Girey, the Crimean khan (1572), who received the village of Lipitsy with villages in Serpukhov district. According to documents, the genus can be traced from the beginning of the XVII century.
