This edition is an attempt to systematize modern information on all sections of solid state physics from fundamental ideas to applied issues. There have been no similar encyclopedic publications on solid state physics in the world so far. The dictionary contains over 5,000 entries. Among them are relatively large articles on the basic concepts and most important phenomena of solid state physics, as well as medium-sized articles on individual problems and physical concepts, and, finally, it gives brief definitions of terms used in the literature on solid state physics. Much attention is paid to technical applications of solid state physics.
