This edition is a Russian translation of two books by the famous American antiquologist, Professor Eugene Borza, devoted to the history of ancient Macedonia before the accession to the throne of Alexander the Great (336 BC). They not only consistently set out the Macedonian history of the pre-Hellenistic period, but also addressed its main problems. The absence of the latest detailed works on this topic in Russian certainly makes this publication especially useful for Russian-speaking readers. The translation is provided with maps and illustrations, as well as five appendices written by Russian researchers.
