In the history of our fatherland there are two great dates - the Baptism of Russia by Vladimir the Holy and the appearance of the first printed book in the Slavic language during the time of Ivan the Terrible. The first printed book, "Messages and Deeds of the Apostles," appeared on the first day of spring 1564 in Moscow at the Printing House through the efforts of the great enthusiast of his work, Ivan Fedorov. The childhood and teachings of the future first printer fell on the reign of Vasily III, shortly before which Russia finally freed itself from the centuries-old Tatar yoke, mature years passed in the alarming and fateful times of Tsar Ivan the Terrible. Ivan Fedorov knew the mercy and support of the great princes and clergy, but he was also subjected to undeserved disgrace, worked in Krakow, Lviv, Vilna and always, wherever he was, acted as a great enlightener and worker.
