In the novel "The Age of Naivety," written in 1920, Edith Wharton paints a satirical picture of New York high society of the 70s of the last century. Coming from a completely different social environment, the hero, however, finds himself not only in almost the same positions as Newland Archer, but also forced to solve the same moral conflict of feeling and duty.
