The introduction describes mushrooms as a kind of group of living organisms, briefly describes the importance of mushrooms in human life, collected recommendations for their collection in the Leningrad Region and general rules for storing and processing mushrooms. The main part of the book contains detailed descriptions of the 130 most common or interesting species of macromycete fungi found in this territory. The descriptions contain morphological and ecological characteristics, geographical information, differences of the described fungi from other similar species, methods of using and harvesting fungi. All descriptions are provided with color illustrations. The publication is addressed to a wide range of readers: from schoolchildren to mycologists.
