The mathematical theory of wavelets is less than 15 years old, but wavelets have already become the main research tool in many areas of applied mathematics and engineering disciplines. The present introduction to wavelets involves knowledge of basic information from linear algebra (briefly presented in chapter 1) and mathematical analysis at the student level.
