The heroes of the novel, which takes place in the 30s, are the Indonesian communist youth Nal Senuzi, his sister Erna and their friend Yartsev. The novel depicts the flight of Nal from a prison in Java, the life of friends in Japan, their participation in the struggle of the advanced social circles of this country against fascism.
