Eva Dallas's new investigation is the brutal murder of lovers working for a large audit firm. Eva has no doubt that the crime is related to the professional activities of those killed, but the situation is complicated by the fact that all the suspects are respected people and each of them has a convincing alibi. And then Eve's friend, Mavis Freestone, asks to help her with the search for her missing acquaintance. Little by little, Lieutenant Dallas begins to realize how closely this case is connected to the investigation.
