The History of the Italian Resistance Movement, offered to the reader, was written by a prominent Italian communist scientist who combines serious scientific work with great social and political activity, Roberto Battaglia, one of the prominent figures in Italian trade unions. He was directly involved in the Resistance movement. In the first months of the people's war against the German and Italian fascists, he fought in the units of the Justice and Freedom action party in Umbria, then was a participant in the underground struggle in Rome, and since June 1944 he commanded a partisan division in northern Italy.
