The Manual indicates, in accordance with the Rules of Technical Operation, effective orders, orders and instructions of the NKPS, the duties of a steam locomotive driver and provides basic information on the care, repair, maintenance and management of a steam locomotive, compiled taking into account modern working conditions and advanced methods that are widespread in the practice of steam locomotive management. The Manual also includes the necessary instructions on the peculiarities of the arrangement of individual series of steam locomotives and brief information on the organization of repair and operation of steam locomotives.
