Walking people - a historical novel by A.P. Chapygin, written in 1930-1937. Dedicated to the events of the "rebellious" XVII century: the era of urban and popular uprisings ("Salt Riot" of 1648, "Copper Riot" of 1662), church schism (1654-1667) and the exhausting wars of the Moscow state with Poland (1654-1667) and Sweden (1656-1661). Despite the detailed description of the life and life of Moscow archers, boyars, clergy and the posad population of Moscow during the time of Alexei Mikhailovich, some critics recognize not a historical, but an "adventurous" novel.
