The work "Monadology and Sociology" (1893) by the French sociologist Gabriel Tard is unique in its kind. Being the only "purely metaphysical" work of the latter, she, being at the center of modern humanitarian thought, brought Tard out of almost a century of oblivion, again making one of the most mentioned figures of the 2nd half of the 19th century. The project of Tard monadology as a "universal sociology" produces an inversion of the popular at one time idea of society or the state as an organism. In contrast to this approach, Tard proposes to consider any organisms understood extremely widely (bacteria, stars, atoms, and even an infinitely descending series of entities from which the latter can consist) as societies or collectives collected from individuals who are driven by unconscious desire and faith on the other side of the sensation.
