Endgame - the third, final stage of the chess game. It is generally accepted that the game has moved into the endgame, when most of the figures are exchanged and, as a rule, there are no numerous threats to the kings characteristic of the middle of the game. It is also important to note that in the endgame the king himself becomes an active figure, the role of pawns increases immeasurably and a new goal of the game appears - holding pawns in queens. It will not be an exaggeration to claim that this phrase is the Achilles heel of wide layers of chess lovers. What is that for? Why do even strong chess players, when it comes to the endgame, begin to "swim" in relatively simple positions?
