In the late sixties, at a time of hippies, rock and roll and amazing scientific discoveries, when the West had a huge interest in Eastern philosophy and religion, Danes Ole and Hannah Nidal went on a honeymoon to Nepal. There they met with the head of Kagyu (one of the schools of Tibetan Buddhism), His Holiness Karmapa XVI, and became his close personal students. For several years, recalcitrant Europeans - intellectuals, smugglers and lovers of experimenting with "mind-expanding" substances - were trained in the Himalayas by Karmapa. He gave them a complete transfer of the highest Buddhist methods of working wisely. This training fundamentally changed Ole and Hannah's lives. They left their former habits and in 1970, at the request of Karmapa, returned to Europe to carry the Buddhist Doctrine to the West.
