The hero of this story, Count Benevsky, is considered one of the brightest adventurers, travelers and public figures of the eighteenth century. Being a Kamchatka exile, Benevsky managed to raise an uprising in the Bolsheretskaya fortress - the main one in Kamchatka, captured a warship with cannons and went along with a hundred of his associates - mainly Cossacks - on a long journey by sea. During the voyage, he visited Formosa and China, Japan and the island of Ile-de-France, became the king of Madagascar, set out to build the state of the Sun (state of equals) there, but accidentally died in a battle that never took place. People like Count Benevsky, perhaps, can no longer be found in the history of Russia. His life was without exaggeration amazing.
