This manual presents a historiographic analysis of Chinese writing, the stages of its development, and provides a comparative analysis between alphabetic and hieroglyphic writing. The manual is aimed at developing students' ability to apply linguistic knowledge about the main word-forming phenomena of the Chinese language, as well as its functional varieties.
