The first in Russian medieval studies special study of the history of the Paris Parliament - the Supreme Court in France in the Middle Ages - displays a collective portrait of the nascent bureaucracy and the peculiarities of its perception of public service, royal power, the appointment of a court in society, as well as ideas about violence, mercy and justice. The work of the Parliament is shown against the background of the crisis of power in the first third of the 15th century: the king's illness and the aggravation of the political struggle, the civil war of the bourguignons and Armagnacs, English aggression and the last stage of the Hundred Years War.
